Your monthly electric bill is determined by the amount of electricity you use in a given month.
Because of the rural nature of Harney Electric's system and to keep costs manageable for members, HEC rely's on members to self-read their meters and to call or send the reading in on a monthly basis.
Electric meters are extremely accurate. If you feel that there is a problem with your meter, we will test* your meter for accuracy. Please call our office at (541) 573-2061 to schedule a meter test.
*The first meter test will be provided free of charge. Subsequent meter tests that are determined to be within the ANSI C12.20 accuracy limits, will be at the member's expense.
Tampering with an electric meter isn't only a federal offense, it's also extremely dangerous. Only Harney Electric personnel are authorized to break or replace a meter seal. If you believe someone is tampering with an electric meter, please contact us immediately at (541) 573-2061 or by email.
